Polocrosse: Family time = good and perfect gifts

It’s hard to know what your peaks and valleys are, except in retrospect. Who knows what I’ll call this time later, but for now, it’s a challenge, and yesterday, for whatever reason, felt like a valley.
As for that idea of foggy hiking – where you hardly know whether you are in a valley or on an ascent, this is what I mean: We missed the flight for our honeymoon. I didn’t take that well…AT ALL. There were no more flights to our tropical paradise for a month! …Ending up at the Laquinta Inn in Hollywood, FL. I was sick the whole time and my expectations, well…they didn’t help me switch gears and enjoy our time. Now, feeding tubes, enteral formula, decisions and stacks of paperwork, we’d LOVE a night together, just the two of us, LaQuinta Inn or elsewhere. But how can I say I won’t look back dealing with something else and long for these days? In some respects, I know I will. 2-year-old Phrases like “I wuub you!” and “Don’t weeb me!” only last so long.
So…to be PRESENT …to be THANKFUL …to have my eyes wide open for these good and perfect gifts all around me. –smiles full of smeared chocolate, the mixture of fear and wonder as they stroke that magnificent coat, the golden curls in the breeze, laughter, wonder… I choose to soak in THIS moment right here and call it JOY!
